What Awaits You on an Expedition on the Ultramarine

Modern Expedition Vessel

Ultramarine is a purpose-built polar expedition ship with PC6 ice class, designed specifically for journeys into the Polar Regions. She travels to Antarctica with a maximum of 199 guests.

With two helicopters, 20 Zodiacs, a full spa facility, and multiple wildlife-viewing areas, she is one of the most capable and well-equipped ships for polar expeditions.

Comfort in the Heart of Antarctica

Spacious cabins starting from 21 m² with floor-to-ceiling windows and private balconies ensure you never miss what’s happening outside.

You can unwind in the sauna overlooking the sea, dine in one of the two onboard restaurants, or enjoy the view from the Observation Lounge with a glass of wine in hand.

Heli-Flightseeing and Real Adventure

What was once reserved for private superyachts is now possible aboard Ultramarine. Helicopter flightseeing has elevated expedition travel to an entirely new level.

Ultramarine also offers one of the widest selections of optional adventure activities in Antarctica — including kayaking, camping, stand-up paddleboarding, and mountaineering.

With Ultramarine you have access to one of the largest selections of optional adventure activities in Antarctica. These include:

• Shore landings
• Zodiac cruises
• Expert-led polar lectures
• Photography workshops
• Polar Plunge
• Camping
• Sea kayaking
• Mountaineering
• Stand-up paddleboarding
• Helicopter activities (depending on itinerary)

All shore landings and Zodiac excursions are included. Lectures onboard Ultramarine are also included. Optional adventure activities and helicopter operations vary by sailing date

Ultramarine carries two twin-engine Airbus H145 helicopters operated from two dedicated helidecks. This allows more guests to explore remote sites that cannot be reached by ship or Zodiac.

Seven of the eight helicopter seats are window seats. The large scratch-resistant windows are ideal for photography.

Helicopter experiences range from Antarctic landings to flightseeing. The exact program depends on the itinerary. For example, voyages to Snow Hill Island include helicopter landings to visit the emperor penguin colonies.
If you have questions about helicopter options on specific itineraries, feel free to call us or request a complimentary callback.

You can stay connected onboard Ultramarine — even in Antarctica. Personal devices can connect to the shipwide Wi-Fi network.

However, internet access may be limited or temporarily unavailable in extremely remote areas. Bandwidth cannot always support smooth video calls.

When booking with Arctic Desire, you can choose a package including international flights.

A national flight package is already included when booking Ultramarine in Antarctica, consisting of:

• Pre-night hotel stay in Buenos Aires including transfers
• Domestic return flight from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia
• Necessary airport transfers

We are happy to plan a fully tailored travel itinerary if preferred.
