Details About Quark Expeditions Cruises

X-Bow Ships with Ice Class

Aurora Expeditions was the first cruise operator to introduce X-Bow ships to Antarctica — an innovative design that provides greater stability and reduces fuel consumption for smoother, more efficient voyages.

Its three expedition vessels are built to the highest Polar Class for passenger ships, allowing them to safely reach even the most remote regions of the polar world.

Boutique-hotel comfort

On every Aurora Expeditions vessel, you’ll travel to Antarctica with the personal service of a small 4-star-plus boutique hotel, spacious cabins with a window, a spa with sauna, and an experienced expedition team.

For Adventure Activities

All landings and Zodiac excursions are included with your booking. In addition, you can choose optional activities such as camping, kayaking, snorkeling, scuba diving, snowshoeing, or skiing in Antarctica for an extra fee.

Frequently Asked Questions about Quark Expeditions

No. When booking with ArcticDesire.com, you always pay the same best available rate as offered directly by the cruise line — plus you’ll receive complimentary concierge service from our polar experts. We’re also happy to arrange your flights, transfers, and optional post-expedition programs for a seamless travel experience. The choice is entirely yours.

There’s no single “best” Antarctica cruise — the ideal voyage depends on what you’d like to experience, your comfort preferences, and what sights you most want to see. Our experts are happy to walk you through the different routes and help you find the one that fits you best.

The minimum age to join an Antarctic voyage with Aurora Expeditions is 8 years. There is no official maximum age limit. The general rule applies: if you can independently — with a little help from the expedition team — get in and out of a Zodiac boat, you’re fit to join an expedition to Antarctica.

On flight-based expeditions, the flight from Punta Arenas to King George Island is included. When booking through ArcticDesire.com, you can also choose to include international and domestic flights to your expedition ship — or simply book the cruise itself at the best available rate. It’s entirely up to you.

Absolutely. You can call us directly, send a message using the contact form, or request a free callback from one of our polar specialists. We’ll be happy to answer all your questions about Antarctica — even the ones you might not have thought of yet.
