Free Wi-Fi is available onboard MS Roald Amundsen in Antarctica. However, connection speeds can be very limited. Internet access relies on satellite technology, which cannot match the speed or stability of mainland connections. To ensure availability for all guests, streaming and file-sharing may be restricted.
How is the food on MS Roald Amundsen?
Dining aboard MS Roald Amundsen is relaxed and informal. The ship has three restaurants. The main restaurants, Aune and Fredheim, are included. The premium restaurant Lindstrøm is also included for suite guests for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Passengers in all other cabin categories may dine at Lindstrøm for dinner at an additional charge. As expected on an expedition vessel, the atmosphere in all dining venues is casual.
The selection is varied and generous, and Hurtigruten uses local ingredients whenever possible.
There are no snacks between meals, but coffee, tea, and cookies are available at any time on the pool deck and in the Explorer Lounge.
- Aune: Aune is more than twice the size of the other two restaurants with seating for 240 guests. Breakfast and lunch are served buffet-style, while dinner is à la carte. A seat and table number are assigned.
- Fredheim: Open for lunch and dinner, serving burgers, hot dogs, quesadillas, milkshakes, and waffles. Depending on itinerary, there may also be regional dishes like crab, mussels, or lobster rolls.
- Lindstrøm: Lindstrøm is a hybrid specialty restaurant. Suite guests dine here at no extra charge. Only suite guests may dine here for breakfast and lunch. All meals are à la carte, and dinner is a six-course menu.
- Explorer Lounge & Bar – Panoramic Bar: Cookies, coffee, and tea available at any time.
- Pool Bar: Cookies, coffee, and tea.
