2. The Itinerary
Day 1: Buenos Aires
Your journey begins in Buenos Aires. The capital of Argentina, often referred to as the “Paris of South America,” is a cosmopolitan metropolis known for its diverse neighborhoods (Barrios) as well as its vibrant café culture. Each neighborhood has its own charm, but none is as colorful and vibrant as La Boca, where tango dancers populate the streets. Ships dock in the renovated port district of Puerto Madero, while the elegant Recoleta neighborhood attracts visitors with its famous cemetery, where Eva “Evita” Perón found her final resting place. You board your boutique ship and prepare for an unforgettable expedition to one of the wildest and most impressive regions on Earth.
Days 2 to 4: At Sea
You enjoy the tranquility at sea and the spectacular views from the observation decks. Use the time to interact with other passengers or browse in the library. Exciting lectures by experts and photo tips from professionals on board offer additional highlights.
Day 5: Saunder Island
Above this remote Falkland Island, black-browed albatrosses circle while Commerson’s dolphins play in its waters. With a sparse population of humans and sheep, the island is also a sanctuary for fur seals, rockhopper penguins, Magellanic penguins, and imperial cormorants nesting in the cliffs and on the impressive Cliff Mountain. Hikes through the moss-covered terrain reveal beautiful wildflowers such as the pink-leaved Felton’s flower.
Day 6: Port Stanley
Port Stanley is the small capital of the Falkland Islands and reminds visitors of Great Britain with its red mailboxes. The town is so compact that it can be easily explored on foot. A visit to the Historic Dockyard Museum is worthwhile as it vividly presents the history of seafaring and the exploration of the Falkland Islands. The post office is also worth a visit. In nearby Gypsy Cove, numerous Magellanic penguins gather, while sea lions and dolphins can be observed in the harbor. This charming town offers a perfect mix of history and nature that delights every visitor.

South Georgia is often referred to as the “Galapagos of the Poles” and offers numerous landing sites where impressive wildlife observations can be made. Here you can experience up to half a million king penguins or three million breeding pairs of macaroni penguins up close – the largest population in the world. With a bit of luck, you may also observe the grunting elephant seals from a distance.
Another highlight is Grytviken, the historic whaling station where the legendary British explorer Ernest Shackleton is buried. This unique island offers fascinating insights into the wildlife and history of Antarctica.

The Antarctic Peninsula is where many visitors experience their dream of Antarctica. Here, impressive glaciers, massive icebergs, and snow-covered islands await you. The peninsula is the most accessible part of the continent and is home to both scientific stations and fascinating landscapes. During land excursions, you can visit Petermann Island, where you can see Adelie penguins, blue-eyed cormorants, skuas, and large elephant seals.
