2. The Itinerary
1. Day: Arrival in Ushuaia
Upon your arrival in Ushuaia, you will be transferred from your ship to the hotel by a representative. If you are already in Ushuaia, please make your own way to the hotel; check-in is from 3:00 PM. In the afternoon, visit the hospitality desk at Las Hayas Ushuaia Resort to collect your luggage tags and clarify details about embarkation and the Beagle Channel cruise. Participants arriving after 7:00 PM will find a welcome package at check-in and can visit the hospitality desk the next morning.
2. Day: Embarkation
Enjoy your breakfast in the morning and check out. Bring your labeled cabin luggage to reception, where it will be securely transported to the port. Explore Ushuaia in the morning, meet at 12:45 PM for the optional catamaran ride or at 3:45 PM for the transfer to embarkation.
3. Day to 4. Day: Crossing the Drake Passage
During the Drake Passage crossing, you will get accustomed to the sea movements, and the expedition team will prepare you for the first landing with important wildlife and biosecurity guidelines. Observe and photograph seabirds like albatrosses and giant petrels, and take advantage of onboard facilities such as the gym or lounges. Shortly before the South Shetland Islands, excitement builds as the first iceberg is sighted and possibly the first landing in Antarctica takes place.
5. Day to 7. Day: Antarctic Peninsula
It is almost impossible to describe the feeling upon arrival in Antarctica. Seeing the first iceberg and breathing in the freshest, clearest air on Earth is an unforgettable experience. After arrival, you will explore the western side of the Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands, with the experienced expedition team selecting the best routes based on weather, ice conditions, and wildlife sightings. You will make landings or Zodiac excursions twice daily to visit penguin colonies, discover historic huts, and enjoy the impressive landscape.
8. Day to 9. Day: Crossing the Drake Passage
Enjoy a final morning landing in the South Shetland Islands before beginning the return journey through the Drake Passage to South America. Lectures and film screenings round out the Antarctic experience, while there is plenty of time to enjoy the magic of the Southern Ocean and reflect on your experiences.
10. Day: Disembarkation in Ushuaia
Early in the morning, you will cruise up the Beagle Channel and dock in Ushuaia around 8:00 AM, where you can disembark. Say goodbye to your expedition team and fellow travelers before continuing your onward journey. Passengers with flights before 2:00 PM will be taken directly to the airport, while others will be transferred to their accommodation in Ushuaia or can explore the city before heading to the airport in the afternoon. Please do not book flights before 12:00 PM on the day of disembarkation to avoid possible delays.
