2. The Itinerary

King George Island is the largest of the South Shetland Islands and is often referred to as the gateway to Antarctica. It is located only 120 kilometers from the Antarctic Peninsula and has the only airport in the region. Thus, it is the connection between “real life” and “Antarctic life”.
The Antarctic Peninsula juts out towards South America and invites adventurers to explore this untamed realm. Located just 620 miles from Tierra del Fuego, it offers many people their first impressive view of the snow-covered landscapes and enormous ice sculptures that characterize Earth’s least explored continent.
A journey to Antarctica is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure – rugged, remote, and breathtakingly beautiful. The Antarctic Sound, named after a ship from 1902, often marks the entry into this icy world. Massive icebergs from the Larsen Ice Shelf drift through the water. Chinstrap penguins and Cape petrels enliven the white expanse. Those who come here experience pure nature. Don’t forget your camera – the untamed beauty of Antarctica deserves to be captured.
Crossing the legendary Drake Passage is an experience that few people have. The southern tip of America already seems wild enough, but when you see the distant cliffs of the peninsula known as the “End of the World,” you feel simultaneously epic, eerie, and magical.
South Georgia is a natural paradise for animals. Huge colonies of king penguins, macaroni penguins, and elephant seals populate the island. Wandering albatrosses glide majestically over the waves, while elephant seals rest on the beaches. This pristine island offers an amazing diversity of birds and marine animals thriving in complete isolation.
Days at sea are ideal for relaxing and doing all the things you’ve long wanted to do. Whether you want to go to the gym, use the spa, watch whales, or simply read in peace – these days on the open sea offer a welcome change from the exciting explorations of the mainland. It’s the perfect opportunity to recharge your batteries.
Although Stanley is a symbol of British identity, it resembles Patagonia more than Portsmouth. Despite the wind-swept, vast, and breathtaking landscape of the Falkland Islands, don’t be surprised if you enjoy a beer or even fish and chips in a pub. It’s an interesting mix of British culture and the rugged beauty of the surroundings.
West Point Island is home to black-browed albatrosses, rockhopper penguins, and imperial shags. Steep cliffs, Commerson’s dolphins, and whales characterize the landscape. Visitors are welcomed with “smoko”.
New Island is home to king penguins, rockhopper penguins, and albatrosses. Sea lions, orcas, and shipwrecks adorn the island, which also offers historical sites from the Falklands War.
