2. The Itinerary

King George Island is the largest of the South Shetland Islands and is often referred to as the gateway to Antarctica. It is located only 120 kilometers from the Antarctic Peninsula and has the only airport in the region. Thus, it is the connection between “real life” and “Antarctic life”.
A journey to Antarctica is a unique adventure – rugged, remote, and breathtakingly beautiful. The Antarctic Sound, named after a ship from 1902, often marks the entry into this icy world. Massive icebergs from the Larsen Ice Shelf drift through the water. Chinstrap penguins and Cape petrels enliven the white expanse. Those who come here experience pure nature. Don’t forget your camera – the untamed beauty of Antarctica deserves to be captured.
The Antarctic Peninsula juts out towards South America and invites adventurers to explore this untamed realm. It lies just 620 miles from Tierra del Fuego and offers many their first impressive glimpse of the snow-covered landscapes and giant ice sculptures that characterize Earth’s least explored continent.
The South Shetland Islands are wild, rugged, and full of life. Amidst penguins, seals, and crashing waves, real natural wonders await. Volcanic islands like Deception Island offer hot springs in the midst of icy expanses. On King George Island, small research teams defy the eternal winter. And Elephant Island tells the tale of great explorers’ struggle for survival. Despite the proximity to civilization, every step here feels like a journey to the end of the world – a place for real adventures in untamed wilderness.
Crossing the legendary Drake Passage is an experience that few people have. The southern tip of America already seems wild enough, but when you see the distant cliffs of the peninsula known as the “End of the World,” you feel simultaneously epic, eerie, and magical.
Puerto Williams is a Chilean town on Navarino Island, on the southern shore of the Beagle Channel. It claims to be the “southernmost city in the world.” However, the larger Argentine city of Ushuaia, located on the northern side of the channel and with about 75,000 inhabitants, also claims this title for itself. The surroundings of Puerto Williams are truly impressive and offer breathtaking scenery.
