2. The Itinerary

Upon arrival in Ushuaia, you will be transferred from your ship to the hotel by a representative. In the afternoon, visit the hospitality desk at Las Hayas Ushuaia Resort to collect your luggage tags and clarify embarkation details. Late arrivals will find a welcome package at check-in and can visit the desk the next morning.
You enjoy your breakfast in the morning and check out. You bring your labeled cabin luggage to reception, where it will be transported to the port. You have the morning at leisure to explore Ushuaia, or you can join the catamaran trip at 12:45 PM. Alternatively, meet in the hotel lobby at 3:45 PM for the transfer to embarkation. On board, you settle into your cabin and participate in safety briefings. In the evening, you meet your fellow travelers and the expedition team at the welcome dinner.
As you enter the Drake Passage, you get accustomed to the movements of the sea. The expedition team prepares you for the first landing with important wildlife guidelines and biosecurity procedures, and starts the lecture program on Antarctic history and nature. Wildlife observations begin with photographing numerous seabirds, including majestic albatrosses and giant petrels, and if conditions are favorable, the first Antarctic landing takes place.
It’s almost impossible to describe the feeling upon arrival in Antarctica. Seeing the first iceberg and breathing the freshest air on Earth remains unforgettable. After arrival, you explore the western Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands, with numerous activities and up to 24 hours of daylight. The experienced expedition team plans the best routes daily based on weather, ice conditions, and wildlife sightings.
You enjoy informative and entertaining lectures by our expedition team about the wildlife, history, and culture of the places visited. You can use the sauna and hot tubs, stay active in the fitness center, or relax with a book from our well-stocked library in the observation areas on board.
As you approach the rugged island of South Georgia, think of Captain James Cook, who arrived here in 1775 and believed it to be the northern tip of a large southern continent. In fact, South Georgia is an island only 176 km long with a 3,000 m high, snow-covered mountain range, huge animal gatherings, and a fascinating human history. As you approach, steep mountain peaks rise up, while seabirds often circle the ship.
During the journey to the Falkland Islands~Malvinas, there is much to do on board. The expedition team continues to share their extensive knowledge about wildlife, history, and nature in lectures. You have plenty of time to observe seabirds from the stern of the ship, look out for whales, or enjoy the many facilities on board.
The Falkland Islands~Malvinas consist of two large islands and over 700 smaller ones, of which only seven are inhabited. These wind-swept islands with white sandy beaches and crystal-clear water are true wildlife paradises, home to an impressive variety of bird species, including the world’s largest black-browed albatross colony. The cold, nutrient-rich waters are ideal for observing marine life, and the islands offer many beautiful exploration areas with unique perspectives of the archipelago.
With lectures and film screenings, the Antarctic experience is rounded off, and there is plenty of time to enjoy the magic of the South Atlantic and the life there. There is time for reflection and discussion about the experiences. If weather and time permit, the captain might sail close to legendary Cape Horn.
You sail up the Beagle Channel early in the morning and dock in Ushuaia around 8:00 AM. You bid farewell to your expedition team and fellow travelers before continuing your onward journey. Passengers with flights before 2:00 PM will be transferred directly to the airport, while others will be transferred to their accommodation in Ushuaia or can explore the city before heading to the airport in the afternoon.
