1st Day: Buenos Aires
You arrive in Buenos Aires, where you will stay overnight in a hotel. You have time to explore the city, which bears the nickname “Paris of South America”.
Some of the highlights are La Boca, a colorful, creative mecca, and San Telmo, a former aristocratic neighborhood that was abandoned during an epidemic in the 19th century. The mansions became conventillos (shared housing), boutique hotels, antique shops, and tango clubs, exuding a charming bohemian atmosphere.
2nd Day: Flight to Ushuaia and embarkation
After breakfast, you fly from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia, the main island of Tierra del Fuego and the southernmost city in the world.
The ship sails through the calm and picturesque Beagle Channel, named after the ship that carried Charles Darwin on his five-year voyage of discovery. Admire the dramatic views of the Andes from the comfort of the Scenic Eclipse.
3rd Day: At sea
You cruise through the Drake Passage, the notorious waterway connecting South America with Antarctica.
You can attend an introductory presentation about your polar expedition by the Polar Discovery Team in the modern theater and enjoy the yacht’s amenities.
4th to 13th Day: Antarctica and Weddell Sea
Once the yacht reaches Antarctic waters, you are greeted by majestic icebergs and initial whale sightings. The Polar Discovery Team provides exciting insights into the region. Daily Zodiac rides and wildlife observations are offered, weather permitting.
In the Weddell Sea, you glide past impressive icebergs and dense ice floes, where you can see Weddell seals, penguins, and humpback whales. Adventurous options like kayaking, polar diving, or stand-up paddleboarding make the journey even more exciting. An unforgettable experience in one of the world’s most fascinating regions!
