2. The Itinerary
1st Day: Arrival in Punta Arenas
Upon arrival in Punta Arenas, you will be greeted by a representative from Aurora Expeditions and taken to the hotel. It is important that you arrive no later than 2:00 PM to participate in the evening briefing. Between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM, you have the opportunity to collect your luggage tags at the reception desk in the lobby and clarify all details regarding embarkation.
2nd Day: Embarkation
You will be taken to Punta Arenas airport to board your charter flight to King George Island in Antarctica (weather dependent). The flight takes approximately one hour and 45 minutes. Upon arrival, the expedition team will prepare you for the Zodiac transfer to the ship. After embarkation, you will have time to settle into your cabin. This is followed by the safety briefing.
3rd Day to 8th Day: Antarctic Peninsula
The feeling of arriving in Antarctica is simply indescribable. The first glimpse of an iceberg and the fresh, clear air will stay in your memory forever. The western side of the Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands offer up to 24 hours of daylight, making exploration even more exciting. The experienced expedition team plans the best activities each day, depending on weather, ice conditions, and wildlife sightings. Most days include two landings or Zodiac excursions, making the adventures even more intense.
9th Day: Flight from King George Island to Punta Arenas
When you reach Frei Station on King George Island, your Antarctic adventure unfortunately comes to an end, and it’s time to return to Punta Arenas, Chile. Use this time to reflect on your experiences and impressions and discuss them. In Punta Arenas, you will then be taken to your hotel where you can spend the night.
10th Day: Punta Arenas
After breakfast, you bid farewell to your fellow travelers before continuing your journey, hopefully with a new awareness of the immense power of nature (breakfast included). A transfer to the airport is included in the tour price.
