Valparaíso, a UNESCO World Heritage city, is known for its colorful history, vibrant cultural scene, and steep hills lined with bright buildings. The city offers a bohemian flair with restaurants, bars, and street art. Your journey begins aboard the Scenic Eclipse with a warm welcome, a glass of champagne, and the exploration of your luxurious suite.
Enjoy a relaxed morning with breakfast in your suite or at the Yacht Club. Attend a Polar Expedition introduction in the theater, where the Discovery Team explains how the Zodiac excursions and discovery trips work. During the day, enjoy lectures and films; in the evening, world-class entertainment such as musicals and interactive game shows.
Arrival in Niebla, known for its 17th-century fortress. Nearby lies Valdivia, a beautiful university town that has overcome many challenges. Spend the afternoon relaxing in your suite or enjoy a drink at the Scenic Bar Lounge. For dinner, choose from up to 10 world-class restaurants.
Puerto Montt, a bustling city in Chile’s Lake District, lies at the end of the Pan-American Highway—an epic road stretching from Alaska to Ushuaia, Argentina. The city is the gateway to the Andes and Patagonian fjords, an exciting stop to prepare for glaciers, islands, volcanoes, and windswept coasts. During leisure time onboard, visit the fitness studio for an energizing workout or join Pilates, stretching, or aerial yoga sessions.
Visit Castro on Chiloé Island, a place of exceptional natural beauty, surrounded by a fjord to the east and Chiloé National Park to the west, home to a variety of wildlife species. Spot local penguin colonies with Magellanic and Humboldt penguins migrating to the region. Stroll through the town and taste local specialties such as the Chiloé potato. Admire the city’s many UNESCO World Heritage churches, known for their unique wooden architecture.
After days of exploration, relax in your suite or enjoy a conversation with a Polar Discovery Team expert. Alternatively, unwind in a cabana on Deck 10 or on your private veranda as the world drifts by.
Cruise through the Inner Fjords and English Narrows, home to the remote Puerto Eden—the only settlement in the Chilean inland passage. Here you’ll find a mountainous landscape and flourishing Magellanic subpolar forests. Learn about the ancient Mapuche culture, wander the town’s wooden walkways, and spot native wildlife. You’ll also see the Pio XI Glacier in Bernardo O’Higgins National Park, as large as Santiago. This glacier, also known as the Bruggen Glacier, is the only one on Earth that grows daily.
Sail through the historic Strait of Magellan, connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Named after Ferdinand Magellan, it was once the main trade route before the Panama Canal opened. Follow in the footsteps of explorers like Magellan and Sir Francis Drake. Learn about the maritime history of these legendary waterways from the Polar Discovery Team. Enjoy the views and watch for wildlife from the Observation Deck or relax with specialty tea or coffee in the Scenic Lounge.
Punta Arenas, at Chile’s southern tip, is the gateway to Antarctica and Torres del Paine National Park. The city, known for its European architecture and kayaking, offers access to Magdalena Island, a breeding ground for Magellanic penguins. Onboard, pamper yourself at the Senses Spa with ESPA facials or Ayurvedic massages.
Navigate through Chile’s fjords with their narrow inlets, steep cliffs, and glaciers. From the Observation Deck, admire towering peaks, waterfalls, and forests. Watch for elephant seals, dolphins, and whales accompanying your journey. Experience the Seno Garibaldi, one of the few advancing glaciers, and the Seno Pia Glacier with its deep crevasses. This area, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, is home to seals, sea lions, and Andean condors. Spend a relaxing afternoon in a cabana on Deck 10 or enjoy tea on your private veranda.
Experience an unforgettable cruise around the legendary Cape Horn, where the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans meet—a fascinating spot with rough seas and great chances to spot sea lions, penguins, and whales. Then continue through the majestic Beagle Channel, named after Charles Darwin’s research ship. Enjoy spectacular views of the Andes from your luxurious Discovery Yacht. In the evening, perhaps dine at Sushi @ Koko’s with new friends or unwind in the bar or the quiet library.
Discover Ushuaia—the enchanting “End of the World” on the scenic Beagle Channel. Colorful impressions meet snow-covered peaks, dominated by the majestic Monte Olivia. As the gateway to the awe-inspiring Antarctic Peninsula, Ushuaia promises unparalleled adventure and breathtaking natural beauty. Immerse yourself in a world of nature, ancient cultures, and the unforgettable spirit of discovery.
Explore your luxurious Discovery Yacht—from the Sky Bar on Deck 10 to the Senses Spa# with sauna, steam room, and salt therapy on Deck 6. At the modern theater, receive key information about the upcoming polar expedition from the experienced Discovery Team. Evenings bring world-class entertainment with shows, music, and interactive programs. All excursions are weather- and ice-dependent; your route is planned flexibly to make the most of daylight and prepare for your first Antarctic landing.
The Falkland Islands are a paradise for penguin lovers, home to gentoo, king, Magellanic, and rockhopper penguins. Rare birds like the flightless steamer duck can also be seen. A visit to the capital Stanley (weather permitting) reveals British charm, cozy pubs, and a cathedral with a whale bone arch. Discovery Team experts share fascinating insights about the wildlife. In the evening: Sushi* @ Koko’s, theater shows, and drinks at the Scenic Lounge Bar.
Start your day with freshly squeezed juice, barista coffee, or tea served in your suite by your butler. Then enjoy a workout in the gym or join Pilates, stretching, or aerial yoga sessions. You reach Antarctic waters—watch for icebergs and whales from the Observation Deck. The Discovery Team prepares you for your first landing with briefings and practical tips.
