2. The Itinerary
1. Day: Arrival in Punta Arenas
Upon arrival in Punta Arenas, you will be greeted by an Aurora Expeditions representative and transferred to the hotel. It is important that you arrive no later than 2:00 PM to attend the evening briefing. Between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM, you have the opportunity to collect your luggage tags at the reception desk in the lobby and clarify all details regarding embarkation.
2. Day: Charter flight and embarkation
You will be taken to Punta Arenas airport to board your charter flight to King George Island in Antarctica (weather dependent). The flight takes approximately one hour and 45 minutes. Upon arrival, the expedition team will prepare you for the Zodiac transfer to the ship. After embarkation, you will have time to settle into your cabin. This is followed by the safety briefing.
3. Day to 9. Day: Antarctic Peninsula
The feeling of arriving in Antarctica is simply indescribable. The first glimpse of an iceberg and the fresh, clear air will remain in your memory forever. The western side of the Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands offer up to 24 hours of daylight, making exploration even more exciting. The experienced expedition team plans the best activities each day, depending on weather, ice conditions, and wildlife sightings. Most days include two landings or Zodiac excursions, making the adventures even more intense.
10. Day to 11. Day: Drake Passage
Enjoy a final landing on the South Shetland Islands before beginning the return journey through the Drake Passage to South America. Lectures and films complement the Antarctic experience as you continue to enjoy the magic of the Southern Ocean. Share your journey with family and friends and advocate for the protection of Antarctica.
12. Day: Ushuaia
In the early morning hours, you will sail up the Beagle Channel and dock in the port of Ushuaia around 8:00 AM. Say goodbye to your expedition team and fellow travelers before continuing your onward journey. Guests with flights before 12:30 PM will be taken directly to the airport, while others can explore Ushuaia and will be transferred to the airport in the afternoon.
