2. The Itinerary

Your journey begins in Ushuaia, where the colorful houses and irregular streets lead down the slopes of the snow-covered Martial Range and abruptly end at the shore of the Beagle Channel. As one of the southernmost cities in the world, Ushuaia is often referred to as the “End of the World” – and rightly so. The dramatic landscape and moody weather contribute to the special charm of this city. You board your boutique ship and prepare for an unforgettable expedition to one of the wildest and most impressive regions on Earth.
You enjoy the tranquility at sea and the spectacular views from the observation decks. Use the time to interact with other passengers or browse in the library. Exciting lectures by experts and photo tips from professionals on board offer additional highlights.
West Point Island is a true bird paradise and attracts numerous visitors. Here, thousands of rams and ewes roam freely, while the island’s wildlife takes center stage. The island was discovered in 1765 by British explorers. The unique landscapes include the beaches of The Neck, where you can hear the lively activity of rockhopper, gentoo, and king penguin colonies. You might even catch a glimpse of the columnar nests of black-browed albatrosses. Additionally, nine of the 14 endemic plants of the Falkland Islands grow here, such as the silvery buttercup and daisies, further enriching the landscape.
Port Stanley is the small capital of the Falkland Islands and reminds of Great Britain with its red mailboxes. The town is so compact that it can be easily explored on foot. A visit to the Historic Dockyard Museum is worthwhile, as it vividly depicts the history of seafaring and the exploration of the Falkland Islands. The post office is also worth a visit. In nearby Gypsy Cove, numerous Magellanic penguins gather, while sea lions and dolphins can be observed in the harbor. This charming town offers a perfect mix of history and nature that delights every visitor.

South Georgia is often referred to as the “Galapagos of the Poles” and offers numerous landing sites where impressive wildlife observations can be made. Here you can experience up to half a million king penguins or three million breeding pairs of macaroni penguins up close – the largest population in the world. With a bit of luck, you can also observe the grunting elephant seals from a distance.
Another highlight is Grytviken, the historic whaling station where the legendary British explorer Ernest Shackleton is buried. This unique island offers fascinating insights into the wildlife and history of Antarctica.
