2. The Itinerary
Day 1: Boarding in Ushuaia
Start of the expedition cruise in the port of Ushuaia in Argentina.
Day 2: Cape Horn and Drake Passage
After crossing Nassau Bay, you will experience the legendary Cape Horn at daybreak and, weather permitting, can land by Zodiac. Afterwards, you sail on towards Antarctica and cross the passage named after Sir Francis Drake.
Day 3: Drake Passage
On your journey through the Drake Passage to King George Island, you will experience educational programs and observe whales and seabirds with experts on the way to Antarctica.
Day 4: Drake Passage and Antarctica
After passing the Antarctic Convergence, the landscape changes, and the first icebergs and Antarctic coasts become visible. In the South Shetland Islands, you will encounter penguins and whales amidst ice bays and explore the wildlife by Zodiac until late in the evening.
Day 5: Antarctica and return flight
After arriving on King George Island, you leave the ship in Fildes Bay and walk 2 km through the Chilean Frei Station and the Russian Bellingshausen Station to the airplane. After the return flight to Punta Arenas, you will be transferred to your hotel. (Note: Meals in Punta Arenas not included in the program).
Day 6: End of the air cruise
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Punta Arenas airport for your onward flight.
