2. The Itinerary

Your journey begins in Ushuaia.
Crossing Drake Passage.
The route leads through snow-covered peaks and icebergs and offers the opportunity to experience diverse wildlife. You first pass the Melchior Islands and the Schollaert Channel between Brabant and Anvers Islands. Possible visiting sites include Danco Island with its gentoo penguins and nearby seals, Neko Harbour with its huge glaciers and Zodiac tours for close-up views of mountain peaks, Paradise Bay, where you might see humpback and minke whales during a Zodiac cruise, and Port Lockroy on Goudier Island, where there is a former British research station that is now a museum and post office, as well as activities around Jougla Point with penguins and cormorants.
You discover the wind-swept and often fog-shrouded South Shetland Islands, which despite their harsh conditions offer an impressive variety of flora and fauna, including penguins and petrels. On Deception Island, your journey leads through Neptune’s Bellows into an impressive flooded caldera, where an abandoned whaling station and rich birdlife await you. There, you have the opportunity to explore the unique volcanic landscape or choose to explore Half Moon Island, where chinstrap penguins and Weddell seals can be observed near an Argentine research station. The exact departure times depend on the conditions in the Drake Passage.
